Veil Nebula
The Veil Nebula is a super nova remnant located in the constellation Cygnus. The star exploded around 8,000 years ago. Now stretching around 110 light years across, it covers the same area as 6 full moons in our night sky even though it resides over 2,000 light years away from Earth.
Messier 42 (Orion Nebula)
This star forming region is easily visible to the naked eye due to it’s closeness to Earth at only 1,500 light years away. In fact, this large star forming nebula is one of the closest to us.
Jupiter
Combine all the planets together twice and then you’ll have a planet with the same mass as jupiter. With that mass, Jupiter has collected and now maintains 95 discovered moons.
Lagoon (middle) & Trifid Nebulas
Both Nebulas, visible to the naked eye in dark skies, lie around 5,200 (lagoon) and 9,000 light years (trifid). Both Nebulas are actively forming stars with the help of gravity.
Caldwell 30 (Deer Lick Group)
NGC 7331 (center galaxy) is considered to be very similar to our own Milky Way Galaxy. The central galaxy lies around 50 million light years away, while the background galaxies average around a few hundre million light years away from Earth.
Messier 27 (Dumbbell Nebula)
Around 9,000 to 15,000 years old, this nebula started began forming when a star half as massive as our own Sun began shedding its outer layers until it could no longer continue nuclear fusion in the core.
Messier 16 (Eagle Nebula)
Host of the famous formation named “Pillars of Creation,” M16 lies around 7,000 light years away from Earth. The pillars stretch around 4-5 light years through the much larger 70×55 light year Eagle Nebula.
